Tips For An Effective Weight Loss

I have received a couple of mails asking me for general tips on an effective weight loss regimen. These are the ones I could remember right now. I decided to limit this to food issues as I will be giving tips later on incorporating exercise in your daily activities. I will be providing more as the days go by:

• Do not skip meals - you tend to overeat with the next meal
• Take lots of fluids - in the form of water or calorie-free beverages
• Eat more slowly and chew each bite adequately as this way you decrease your appetite more
• Use a smaller serving plate so you 'trick' your brain into believing that the food is much
• Go for low calorie foods and snacks
• Always make sure you to eat protein with each meal
• Eat frequent but small sized meal portions daily
• Make sure your fridge/pantry is stocked with healthy food always
• Add more fruits and veggies to your diet - they are great in fibre and low in calorie
•  Eat only when you are hungry
• Stop eating at least 2-3 hrs before bedtime
• Ensure you eat before you go shopping so that the urge to grab some fast food in-between shopping is reduced
• Keep a food journal as it helps you monitor what you eat
•  Remember to be active most times as it keeps your mind off food
