Taking baby steps
The first few days of my journey was very tormenting for variety of reasons:
- Apart from taking leisure walks, I had not engaged in exercise for a long while and my whole muscles were aching
- I noticed that I was the only woman of colour taking a walk in my neighbourhood
- I kept asking myself if losing weight was worth the suffering I felt I was undergoing
What kept me going was the promise I made to myself and most importantly, I had told my family and friends of my journey. If I was to give up so soon, will they not see me as a failure?
